DANIEL MILNE - THE CHIEF MALTSTER
A farmer and a maltster. A man who understands that to produce the finest quality flavours, you must first have a passion and understanding of their origins. Daniel has a deep connection to and understanding of the land from which our seeds grow. He nurtures and protects them on their journey and reaps these results at harvest time. He waits patiently for the next step to begin, and then carefully watches over our grains as they turn to malt. He is a Crafty Maltster dedicated to delivering a flavour like no other.
NORMAN MILNE - CHIEF ENGINEER
Farming all of his life, he is the elder statesman of the team. Norman has worked this land for nearly 50 years and understands exactly how valuable our cereals are to the brewing and distilling industry in Scotland. Norman has the mind of an expert engineer and we believe there is nothing he can’t fix!
ALISON MILNE - CHIEF OF EVERYTHING ELSE
A passion for agriculture and the role of family farming in our rural economy has shaped Alison’s life and career. She believes strongly in the potential of our grains and works tirelessly to give them the profile they deserve. There is nothing that will stand in her way to ensure that Crafty Maltsters is a brand recognised for producing the finest quality malt, with the very best flavours.

Our farming enterprise is a legacy business, we are simply the custodians. Crafty Maltsters is our ambition to make that a sustainable and profitable legacy for the this pair, if they are daft enough to follow in our footsteps! It is not unknown for them to be given mundane chores in exchange for pocket money!
